District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Pitts
The King has appointed Helen Pitts to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Leeds Magistrates’ Court with effect from 2 June 2025.
Background Information
Helen Pitts will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Pitts. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2003. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2019 and became a Salaried Judge in 2021. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2024.
