District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Rafter
The King has appointed Katy Rafter to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the Midlands Circuit, based at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court with effect from 1 May 2025.
Background Information
Katy Rafter will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Rafter. She was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 2005. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2022.
