The King has appointed Stuart Smith to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. 

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, based at Exeter Magistrates’ Court with effect from 13 February 2023.

Background Information

Stuart Smith will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Stuart Smith. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2005. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2019.
