District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) Appointment: Straw
The Queen has appointed Jonathan Straw to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midland Circuit, based at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court with effect from 1 November 2021.
Background Information
Jonathan Straw, aged 52, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) Straw. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1992. He was appointed as an Assistant Coroner in 2018 and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber, in 2020.
