The Queen has appointed Gillian Young to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Robert Buckland QC MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court with effect from 16 March 2020.

Gillian Young, aged 48 will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) Young. She was admitted to the Roll in 1996. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2013.
