High Court Judge Appointment
The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of a Justice of the High Court. This appointment will take effect from 18 November 2019. It is anticipated that a further six appointments will be announced in the coming months.
The candidate approved as a High Court Judge is Nicholas Hilliard QC.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. Nicholas Hilliard QC
His Honour Judge Nicholas Richard Maybury Hilliard QC, aged 60 will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Hilliard. He was Called to the Bar (M) in 1981 and took Silk in 2008. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2000, as a Senior Circuit Judge in 2012, as the Common Serjeant in 2013 and as the Recorder of London in 2015.
He will take up appointment on 18 November 2019 consequential to the retirement of Mr Justice Ouseley.
The Lord Chief Justice will assign Nicholas Hilliard QC to the Queen’s Bench Division.
