High Court Judge Appointment

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of a Justice of the High Court. The appointment will take effect from 13 January 2020. It is anticipated that a further three appointments will be announced in the coming months.

The candidate approved as a High Court Judge is Thomas Linden QC.

This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. Thomas Linden QC

Thomas Dominic Linden QC, aged 54 will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Linden. He was Called to the Bar (G) in 1989 and took Silk in 2006. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2005 and was authorised to act as a Judge of the High Court under s9(1) to hear cases in the Queen’s Bench Division in 2019.

He will take up appointment on 13 January 2020 consequential to the elevation of Lord Justice Popplewell.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Thomas Linden QC to the Queen’s Bench Division.
