The King has appointed Abid Mahmood to be a salaried Judge of the Upper Tribunal on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the Senior President of Tribunals, the Right Honourable Sir Keith Lindblom.     

The Senior President of Tribunals has assigned him to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber with effect from 29 July 2024.

Background Information

Abid Mahmood will be known as Upper Tribunal Judge Mahmood. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1992. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2006, as a Recorder in 2008 and as a Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2015.
