New Area Coroners announced
The Chief Coroner, Her Honour Alexia Durran, welcomes the appointment of new Area Coroners in England and Wales.
They are:
Middlesbrough Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Paul Appleton as Area Coroner for the Teesside and Hartlepool Coroner Area.
Birmingham City Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Adam Hodson as Area Coroner for the Birmingham and Solihull Coroner Area.
Stoke on Trent City Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Fiona Gingell as Area Coroner for the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Coroner Area.
Lancashire County Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Emma Mather as Area Coroner for the Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen Coroner Area.
Somerset Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Vanessa McKinlay as Area Coroner for the Somerset Coroner Area.
Kent County Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Ian Potter as Area Coroner for the Kent and Medway Coroner Area.
Cumberland Council, as the relevant authority, has appointed Margaret Taylor as Area Coroner for the Cumbria Coroner Area with effect from 1 January 2026.
