New Judicial Lead on Youth Justice for England and Wales
The Lady Chief Justice is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Justice Norton as Judicial Lead on Youth Justice for England and Wales.
This is a three-year appointment.
Background Information
Ms Justice Norton was appointed to the High Court, King’s Bench Division, on 6 October 2025. She was called to the Bar in 1988 and practised as a barrister for 24 years, specialising in criminal law and professional discipline. She also brings 18 years of judicial experience as both a Recorder and Circuit Judge to the role.
She is the co-author of several publications, including the Child Defendants in the Crown Court Benchbook, and has particular interest and expertise in this area of criminal law.
