New Presiding Judges Appointed
The Lord Chief Justice, in concurrence with the Lord Chancellor, has announced the appointment of four Presiding Judges.
Mrs Justice Tipples has been appointed to the Midland Circuit where she will succeed Mr Justice Jeremy Baker.
Mr Justice Goose has been appointed to the Northern Circuit where he will succeed Mr Justice Dove.
Mr Justice Murray has been appointed to the South Eastern Circuit where he will succeed Mrs Justice Whipple.
Mr Justice Griffiths has been appointed to Wales where he will succeed Mr Justice Picken.
The appointments are made from 1 January 2022, when the current Presiding Judges step down, to 31 December 2025.

Mrs Justice Amanda Tipples was called to the Bar in 1991 (Gray’s Inn) and took silk in 2011. She was appointed a Recorder in 2009, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013 and a High Court Judge in 2019.
Mr Justice Julian Goose was called to the Bar in 1984 (Lincoln’s Inn) and took silk in 2002. He was appointed a Recorder in 1998, a Senior Circuit Judge in 2013 and a High Court Judge in 2017.
Mr Justice Edward Murray was admitted as a solicitor in 1992. He was appointed a Recorder in 2009, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013 and a High Court Judge in 2018.
Mr Justice Martin Griffiths was called to the Bar in 1986 (Inner Temple) and took silk in 2006. He was appointed a Recorder in 2009, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2016 and a High Court Judge in 2019.
Presiding Judges are responsible for the deployment of the judiciary and allocation of cases on their Circuit. They also have a responsibility for general supervision of judges on their circuits.
