Judge Fiona Monk retires as President of the First-tier Tribunal (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber) with effect from 5 January 2026.
Background information
Judge Monk was admitted as a Solicitor in 1988. She was appointed as a fee-paid Employment Judge in 2000, as a salaried Employment Judge (England & Wales) in 2007 and as a Regional Employment Judge (England & Wales) in 2011. She was a Diversity and Community Relations Judge from 2013 to 2025. She was appointed as the Senior Resident Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber) in 2016 and was a Commissioner to the Judicial Appointments Commission from 2017 to 2019. Judge Monk was Acting Chamber President of the First-tier Tribunal (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber) between February and September 2018 and was appointed the Principal Judge for Strategy and Implementation in 2018. She was appointed as the President of the First-tier Tribunal (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber) in 2020.
