Message from Mr Justice Peel: Standard Orders – cross examination and QLR provisions

I make this announcement with the authority of the President.

The prohibition of cross examination provisions contained in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 came into force on 21 July 2022 and apply to all family proceedings commenced after that date.

A series of draft orders addressing these requirements have been prepared by the Ministry of Justice after consultation with relevant stakeholders, and reviewed by the Standard Orders Group.

They will appear in final form in the suite of Standard Orders, currently subject to a comprehensive review by the Standard Orders Group.

Given that the prohibition of cross examination provisions are now in force, it is necessary for the orders to be made available forthwith, on an interim basis pending publication of the full suite of orders.

The attached orders (below) shall henceforth apply until further notice.
