Family Justice Council Conference and Bridget Lindley Memorial Lecture

The Family Justice Council conference and Bridget Lindley Memorial Lecture took place on 12 March 2019.  Attendance was by invitation only and the audience comprised a range of stakeholders working in, or with an interest in, the family justice system.

Hosted by the President of the Family Division, the conference examined the current threshold for state intervention, following 30 years of the Children Act.  The conference had as its focal point, the Bridget Lindley Memorial Lecture.  This was the third in the series of annual lectures to commemorate the life and work of Bridget Lindley OBE, who died unexpectedly in March 2016.  Bridget served with distinction as a member of the Family Justice Council and as the Principal Legal Adviser and Deputy Chief Executive of the Family Rights Group.   This year’s lecture was given by Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker for Families and Children.  The lecture can be accessed as follows:

The conference speakers included Professor Karen Broadhurst, Professor Kate Morris and Stuart Gallimore (President of the ADCS) and the event included a demonstration of the MoJ PLATO (Public Law Applications to Order) tool. A full report of the event will be published in the May edition of Family Law.
